So you have a book- but we aren't ready to read yet!!
Before you jump in, there is plenty of things you can do to introduce the text to your student!
Look at the title.
Your child should read the title and discuss any familiar words in the title.
Look at the cover page.
Ask your child what they see on the front of the book. Do they like this cover?
Identify the author and illustrator.
Identify any other books you have read by this author. Identify any other books by this illustrator you have read.
Look at the back.
Is there a picture, or maybe a preview summary? Look and read!
